Hillary and Bill in Portsmouth
I spent an hour and half waiting in line and then another hour inside the gates waiting for Sen. Clinton and her esteemed husband....and I'm a B. Obama supporter and local volunteer for his campaign...oh, and I have a major headache, one of my knees is out, the list of extensive self-sacrifice goes on..... I mean I could have been enjoying the last hours of summer at the beach.
I am so very glad that I went to see her. She was just so impressive, as is our former President, they are both so smart and warm and they touched on all the important issues in a way that made my heart swell with pride and hope. She told a story about a 90 year old woman who was at a recent rally who said to something like, " I was born before women could vote and I'm going to live to see one in the white house." I really got choked up.
She is also so future-thinking, which is something that we really need given that most of the problems we have in this country and around the world are complicated and require immediate action that may not even have result until well into the future. She's been through two Presidential terms, her own Senate terms, and there's still a wonderful sense of freshness to her perspective.
I'm off to see Sen. Obama tomorrow, so it will be interesting to compare and contrast.....NH rules this primary season!
